Private lessons
Private lessons are one-hour sessions that can happen as frequently as once a week. During this hour, we work with your dog together, and I demonstrate and handle your dog intermittently. However, the focus is mainly on teaching you the handling skills required for you to train your dog on your own, outside of our lessons.

Home school
In Home School training, I come to your home to work with your dog one-on-one for an hour a day for ten days. During this hour, I work with your dog in a handful of 10-15 minute sessions, giving them intermittent breaks to rest and taking notes on their progress. In addition to these ten sessions, you'll get two sessions in which I work with you and your dog together, showing you what they've learned and having you practice with them so that I know you can get the same results with your dog that I do.

Standard pricing: $1000/12 days (taken in multiple installments beginning with a $250 deposit to reserve your spot)
book a training consultation
I like to begin with an initial consultation so that I can hear about what your goals are for your dog's training and any problem behaviors you may be experiencing. This also allows me to give you more detailed information on my background and style of training, as well as explain to you how I would approach working toward your training goals.
All consultations are done by phone and are free of charge.
At Good Dog Training, I provide my clients with training that is well-rounded, affordable and fun. My mission is to help people form positive relationships with their dogs by providing them with the knowledge and skills required to foster good behavior in their pets.
I believe that good dog training begins in the home; forming good habits and patterns of behavior within our homes and daily routines is crucial to living happy lives with our dogs. I provide in-home training ranging from once or twice a month to five days a week, and I customize my packages to best suit the needs of my clients and their pets.
It is proven that dogs learn best when they are working from a place of motivation rather than compulsion or fear. Dog training should be fun for both you and your dog, so I use lots of positive reinforcement (treats, toys, praise). I use operant conditioning and verbal markers to work with the dogs I train; within this system, I can customize my approach to best suit each dog's learning style and temperament. My approach is balanced and fair, because I prioritize working toward well-mannered, obedient dogs who are still happy, confident and full of personality.
My Mission
My background
I have been training dogs professionally since 2014. I've trained dogs as young as eight weeks and as old as thirteen years, ranging in size from miniature breeds to giant. My skill set is primarily in basic obedience, and I have plenty of experience working with a variety of behavioral issues including anxiety, fearfulness, reactivity, aggression and resource guarding.
I'm passionate about working directly with the dogs myself, but I also prioritize owner proficiency, because follow-through and consistency from dog owners are required for good dog training. I pride myself on my ability to teach my clients in a way that is intuitive and easy to understand for people without any prior knowledge of animal behavior; everybody can be a good dog trainer with the proper guidance!

“Carrie is an incredible trainer. After a few months at home, our rescue hound started barking and jumping uncontrollably every time we encountered another dog on a walk. We knew pretty quickly we needed a trainer who would provide customized, one on one attention for Buckley. Carrie was the perfect fit- she customized a plan that fit our schedule and Buckley's needs, without trying to sell us on unnecessary services or extra time. Her instructions are simple to follow, manageable and yield results very quickly. Buckley is now an excellent walker, who can easily pass other dogs without much more than a glance. If you want to help your dog be the best version of themselves they can be, you won't regret hiring Carrie.”

“We couldn’t be happier! Carrie is amazing. Our one year old golden retriever was out of control. Now we have a well behaved dog that we now love; before Carrie we were not sure we were going to survive!”
-Michael M. & Dodger the Golden Retriever
“Our experience with Carrie was nothing short of amazing. After the home school program, our dog's behavior on and off leash has improved drastically and we have learned great strategies to continue that improvement. Carrie's patient and systematic approach were exactly what we needed. Would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for dog training.”
-Patrick D. & Celery the Pitbull mix
“Carrie is lovely! We’ve used her for both of our rescues when we got them to build manners, obedience and confidence on walks! She’s nothing short of amazing, providing great insight on your dog and what training tactics work best for them. Both Wally and Winnie are two happy pups!”
-Karen P. & Wally the Husky/Hound mix & Winnie the Pitbull mix
“My experience with Carrie was phenomenal; she was very professional and caring for my dog. Her patience is very high too, as it’s a learning curve for both dog and owner and owner participation is key to your dog listening to YOU. Couldn't recommend her more!”
-Kourosh M. & Milo the Goldendoodle
“Carrie was extremely helpful and we were still seeing the positive impact she made a year later.
She helped us leash train our dog and how we can enjoy nice walks without our dog pulling or running ahead.
She helped us understand dog behavior and interactions better so our dog can play with other dogs better and learn to leave other dogs alone. As a pandemic puppy, these are skills that were harder to learn but Carrie helped us set reasonable expectations and steps to take to help our dog get better.
She is extremely knowledgeable in understanding dog behavior and I highly recommend having her help train your dog. She was very professional and very kind. We are so thankful!”
-Jessica P. & Sokka the husky mix
I can't come up with enough positive words to describe Carrie and Good Dog Training Stl. We recently adopted a 7 month old puppy, in and of itself a challenge, but a Boxer to boot. Her energy and lack of training up to that point had us at the end of our tether. In just a few sessions, she went from 100% crazy to walking expertly on a leash, containing herself around other pups, placing, staying, and generally exhibiting appropriate behavior. Carrie is patient, honest, easy going and excellent with our pup. Would highly (highly) recommend.
